Hi, I’m Zack, and I Built Invoplex for People Just Like Me
I’ve run my own digital development business for years, and I’ve tried just about every quoting and invoicing tool out there. They were always too big, too bloated, or just not enjoyable to use. So I decided to build something different… Something simple, fast, and genuinely helpful. Invoplex is the tool I always wished existed, made for freelancers, small businesses, and anyone who wants to keep their admin clean and stress-free.
The Spark Behind Invoplex
Invoplex began as an idea the day I realised that none of the quoting and invoicing platforms I’d used over the years actually felt built for small businesses or freelancers.
I run a digital development company called Kaira, and although I’ve used nearly most invoicing tools out there, they all felt bloated, overwhelming, or just not quite enjoyable to use. Logging in always meant navigating around features I didn’t need just to get basic admin done. That frustration sparked the idea to build something cleaner, simpler, and more intuitive… The tool I had always wished existed!
Simply Powerful with Features
Once the idea took hold, I started outlining exactly what I needed as a solo business owner: quick quoting, effortless invoicing, clean client management, and quick visuals for money earned and money owed.
I took note of the features I loved in other platforms, the ones I never used, and what mattered most. The plan was to combine the best parts of modern software with the speed and simplicity freelancers actually want. It was also important that Invoplex stayed very affordable, something accessible to small businesses like mine.
The Build: Clean, Fast, Modern
With the plan in place, I jumped into building Invoplex using the tech stack I absolutely love: Next.js, Tailwind, Shadcn, and Supabase for storage, database, and authentication, all hosted seamlessly on Vercel.
What started as a small project grew quickly, but in the best way possible. Every feature I added felt like a step toward the tool I always wanted to use in my own business. The development process has been incredibly enjoyable, and Invoplex has become more than a solution for my admin, it’s something I look forward to refining and improving every day!
The Future of Invoplex
Invoplex is just getting started!
The next big step is an expense-tracking mobile app built in React Native for iOS and Android, allowing users to snap photos of receipts on the go and sync everything instantly. I’m also working on features like accountant access via magic links, additional user roles, smarter automations, and thinking about getting AI to product quotes & invoices.
The vision is to create a beautifully simple system for freelancers and small businesses to invoice and track earnings and expenses fast!
